The liberty bell gained iconic importance when the abolitionists adopted it as a symbol for their fight to end slavery.  It has since stood as an american icon of hope and liberty. It speaks of the rights and freedoms valued by people the world over. We see an opportunity for this image to be seen in a new light as a symbol of freedom for these women who need it most.

After watching Somaly Mam’s video about the realities of sex trafficking the first thing that came to mind was, “No woman should live like this”. The phrase “Be Free” is a statement of our desire to see these women liberated. We were captivated by the image of the wolf because of the qualities it embodies. The wolf represents compassion, loyalty and also intelligence. It is also known as a protector. Mainly, we were impressed by the strong parallel between the wolfs characteristic as a protector and the work of Somaly Mam as it rescue’s these young women.
