The phrase, “Live & Love” speaks directly to the work of Cure International. These words remind us that living and loving are both interchangeable and essential. Cure International loves these children with their lives and their work. Their actions show this love undeniably. The words live & love needed to scream with energy. We loved the idea of illustrating love and action by injecting the type with energy and motion. The lightning bolts fit the concept well for us and all together the art makes an excellent shirt.

As we thought about the work of Cure international it became clear to us that their work is all about restoration. Growth, New life and new opportunities. First and foremost we wanted to feature this phrase because we believe in it’s power. To live and to love is to see hope and beauty everywhere. Because the people Cure International are unafraid to get their hands dirty these children will blossom and grow into vibrant human beings. We used the illustration to actually create the featured ampersand. While the leaves and flowers are the most essential in representing the concept of new life and growth.

The illustration style of the lion is meant to represent power and strength. The effect of autism on individuals suffering from the disorder as well as people connected to it such as parents and siblings can be exhausting. The lion represents power and strength so instead of focusing on the issues of people affected by autism we decided to focus on the strength and courage of these individuals. These are people who are extremely determined, talented and courage to say the least. They are not weak, or broken and incapable — We are inspired by their strength and want to encourage them to stay strong.
This weeks design features a powerful illustration of a lions face staring straight forward with the phrase, “Live Loud”. While studying the effects and forms of autism we learned that many high functioning autistic individuals suffer from feeling isolated and alone. This goes for the parents of Autistic children as well. There is a feeling of helplessness that comes with this disorders. The phrase, live loud, is a statement that encourages us to “Lock Arms” together and to remind everyone affected by autism that we are for them. They are not alone.
